
A comprehensive Southern Steel Product Technical Training School is held for those who need to know more about detention equipment. These "students" typically include facility correctional officers, administrators and maintenance personnel, as well as architects and engineers from around the country and around the world. Training courses focus on three areas:
Locking Systems: Practical, step-by-step procedures involving installing, adjusting, inspecting and maintaining allsliding door locking systems. The instructor works with students in a classroom atmosphere and includes hands-on techniques.
Locks and Hardware: A comprehensive study of all swinging and sliding door locks manufactured by Southern Steel Company. In addition, all related hardware items, such as door position switches, hinges, pulls, etc. are covered. Principal areas of instruction include functions, usage, ordering information, and hollow metal preparation.
Electrical and Controls: Instruction in basic electricity is followed by an in-depth analysis of wiring diagrams for electrically operated devices. Basic skills in troubleshooting are taught, including visual analysis, circuit isolation, meter usage, and more.

Training Class Details
Classes are held on site at our plant at 4634 S. Presa St., San Antonio, Texas in the Assembly Building. Classes begin at 8:00 am until 5:00 p.m. for four consecutive days Tuesday through Friday. Lunch is provided on training days. All other meals, lodging and transportation are not included in the price. Enrollment is limited to 15 students per class.
