Southern Steel's Electronics Division is one of the
largest integrators in the corrections market. We have
developed a broad line of systems suitable for every type of
corrections application, and pride ourselves in designing,
manufacturing and installing high quality integrated
security systems to meet the unique and demanding needs of
this industry.
Southern
Steel Electronics Engineers and Project Managers are
available at the onset of each project to work closely with
architects, engineers and owners to demonstrate or interpret
the complicated options that are available with integrated
security systems in today's market. User interfaces range
from touchscreen, mouse and keyboard, to control panels
manufactured to the highest standards and quality. We
utilize state-of-the-art, microprocessor based PLC and
computerized equipment, and simplified, yet flexible, relay
logic circuit boards for door and audio control. All systems
are designed for optimum flexibility, always considering the
fast paced operation of a detention facility.
The
Southern Steel Electronics Production Department
manufactures, assembles and tests all engineered systems so
installation time is held to a minimum. From concept to
completion, Southern Steel Electronics takes pride in
designing, manufacturing and installing quality integrated
security systems to meet today's -- and tomorrow's needs. We
offer a complete spectrum of technologies from touchscreen
controls to relay logic, including software integration of
audio, video, card access and perimeter systems to provide
complete electronic system integration for any facility --
large or small.
Technology is ever changing. Keeping up with that
dynamic change requires a long term commitment for the
necessary resources to continue the search for more
efficient means and logical avenues for producing integrated
electronic systems. Southern Steel Company is totally
committed to the security industry, and will continue to
dedicate the resources and talent to be one of the leaders
in this uniquely-challenging field.

 | Desk Top Control System
Our Desk Top Control System is designed for small to medium applications where local control is desired without complete system integration. Standard panel features are door control switches with red and green indicators, a key switch for power, and a lamp test switch. The control panel face can be customized to include options like emergency release, group release and interlock functions. The panel can be configured for controlling eight swinging doors or four sliding doors. Inside the turret is a 8410B I/O Relay Board and power supply to provide power for the relay boards and all switch functions. The unit is shipped from Southern Steel pre-wired and completely tested.

 | 8410B Relay Board
This relay board is the most versatile relay logic board on the market today. This board has 8 form C dry contacts to operate either 8 swinging doors or 4 sliding doors. The board outputs are capable of handling 10 amp loads yet they are fused to your requirements. The board will handle group enable, emergency release, lamp test and interlock override. The ease of maintenance and reliability of relay logic is excellent for small-to-medium applications requiring local control. It can also be networked through PLC Systems for remote control.

 | IC400-2 Intercom Card
This intercom card can work with amplifiers from numerous manufacturers in both new installations and retrofit applications. Each IC400 accepts four intercom stations with pushbutton call-in. When a call is received from the field, the IC400-2 will generate both a flashing and audible output to alert the operator that a call has been placed. Upon acknowledgement of the intercom call from the Control Station, the LED will turn steady and connect you to the station calling. The IC400-2 will operate as a stand alone unit for four speakers or may be rack mounted in our IC12-3 Card Cage.
|
 | ICB12-3 Card Cage
The ICB12-3 Card Cage holds up to 12 IC400-2 Intercom Switch Boards. This card cage provides power, control signals and two audio channels, one switched and one unswitched, to each IC400. The ICB12-3 can be separated into two separate intercom channels containing six cards each by the arrangement of jumpers on the back plane. The back plane provides master inputs for reset and lamp test and an output for all-call annunciation. All connections to the IC400-2 switchboards are made on front of the cage while the switches and LED's for the control station are terminated at the rear of the cage. The ICB12-3 mounts in the standard EIA 19" rack and utilizes 5.25 inches of rack space. The entire assembly operates on 24 volts DC and consumes less than 30 watts of power.
